Aurora, a subsidiary company of Balfour Beatty, is the appointed Asset Management Contractor for the Sunderland Street Lighting and Highway Signs PFI project.

Comprising of an initial five-year Core Investment Programme and a 20-year Term Maintenance Programme.

The Core Investment Programme involved the replacement of 31,120 street lighting columns and 4,600 highway signs in accordance with European standards.

The contract involves a strategic maintenance approach to reduce energy consumption and the replacement of street lights before they fail.
