How many street lights is your local authority responsible for?
There are currently 49643 lighting units which are the responsibility of the local authority but are managed/maintained by Aurora.

How many lights are switched off all night?
Sunderland City Council does not have any street lighting units that are switched off all night.

How many street lights are switched off for a period of time during the night?
Sunderland City Council does not have any street lighting units that are switched off at any time during the night.

How many street lights are dimmed during the night?
As of the current date there are 31051 units that are dimmed at various stages during the night.

Is Sunderland Council planning to switch off or dim street lights in the future?
There are no plans to switch off streetlighting in the future, however there is an ongoing project that is expected to complete mid 2019 which will convert the majority of the remaining non dimmed streetlights to dimmed LED units.

How many street lights were switched off and dimmed in each year from 2015?
2015 : 218 units
2016 : 3106 units
2017 : 20556 units
2018 : 31051 units
